Hi there! My name is Ben Gulla, I'm a third-generation educator and have been teaching and working in K-12 schools since 2011.  I've spent eight of those years abroad in Cape Town and Bogotá where I began leading school trips to different destinations in those regions. Just last month, I began my work as Field Director for Envoys, and educational travel organization. In my role I am responsible for hiring, training, and supporting our Field Staff as they lead travel programs around the world.

I'm relatively new to this work and although I consider myself a pretty avid outdoor enthusiast I have never had to train and teach others about how to manage risk and keep a group of students safe and secure. I hope to learn how other organizations train their leaders to have competence and confidence in the field and learn what sort of management systems or tools organizations use to support this effort.

I love exploration of nature and the nature of my own mind. I'm a philosophy buff and I love talking about esoteric stuff on the trail. I hope to meet others who love this work and are eager to collaborate and learn!
